IMIF-USA

About IMIF

The main objective of IMIF-USA is to assist young musicians in reaching their personal and musical goals. Our faculty emphasize technical and artistic mastery of the instrument as well as development of the musician as a person.

The program features:

  • Four private lessons with acclaimed faculty (violin, viola, cello, or piano)

  • Master classes and recitals by faculty and guest artists

  • Presentations by faculty and guest speakers on topics such as “Effective Practicing” and “Careers in Music”

  • Daily reflections on personal and musical development

  • Gentle morning exercises (stretches) tailored to muscians

  • Chamber music participation and performance (groups are coached by faculty and guest artists)

  • Student performances in public concerts open to the public

  • Recreational activities (swimming, hiking, harmonica lessons...)

The Institute is followed by a 5-day concert tour (by invitation only), in which participants stay with local families and perform concerts in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
