Violinist BORISAS TRAUBAS is well-known in Europe as a soloist, chamber musician, and recording artist for Naxos. He has performed with renowned musicians including Yehudi Menuhin, Mstislav Rostropovich, Timofei Dokshizer, Gidon Kremer, and David Geringas while serving as principal violinist and assistant to the conductor of the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra for over forty years. He has earned a reputation as an outstanding arranger of music: his orchestrations and transcriptions have been performed by many musicians and orchestras including Sergey Nakariakov, David Geringas, Timofei Dokshizer, Mark Drobinsky, and Gavriel Lipkind. He currently serves as member of the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra and director of The International Festival of Chaim. He is featured on the soundtracks of movies "Sisters of Mine" and "Gitel."
Traubas is a champion of Jewish music and culture in Lithuania. He founded Jerusalem of Lithuania, an ensemble to promote Jewish music. Additionally, he is a member of the Baltica Trio, performing music ranging from classical trios to 21st century avant garde compositions and traditional Jewish music. The trio has performed throughout Europe and has been praised by audiences and critics.
In April 2018, Borisas Traubas will visit the USA on the invitation of Intermuse and the United States Consortium for Cultural Relations, in arrangement with the Jewish Community of Vilnius and the Ministry of Culture of Lithuania. Together with the American Virtuosi he will give master classes and perform concerts in Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire , and Washington D.C. , under the motto "Music, The Best Bridge for All People." From Sunday, April 9 through Sunday, April 15, the performances will take place during the United States "Days of Remembrance" and programs will specifically pay tribute to this theme.
